History of the Tournament

In 2002, Room At The Inn started a search for a home for the graduates of its maternity home program who were seeking higher education and striving toward self-sufficiency.

Providence provided an old duplex next door to the Room At The Inn’s Nussbaum Maternity Home. An opportunity arose to present a request for renovation help to the Greater Greensboro Builder’s Association. The project “Amy’s House” was quickly adopted by the GGBA’s Remodelers Council in May of 2005.  After a year and a half of gifted labor by the Remodelers Council, Amy’s House was dedicated, and the Remodelers Council received the state Star Award and the National Cadre Award for service to their community.

Funds from the Spring Swing have paid off the mortgage and are used to maintain the home; funds will also provide aftercare services and scholarships to young women in the Supportive Community Living Program and their children for housing, education, job training, and child care.
